Man, I was pleasantly surprised by how this match turned out.
No exaggeration. The second half wasn’t going well at all. The Moortown teams always start out so strong but they frequently struggle to maintain that same momentum for the remainder of the match, and that’s exactly what I was expecting from the Moortown Men’s Seniors match with Clonoe. They had a solid head start in the first half, scoring seven points, but in the early stages of the second half, Clonoe started to eat away at that commanding lead as the Moortown lads began to flounder.
I’m glad I didn’t write off the match as a lost cause, though, because Moortown soon rebounded in a big way. They scored a couple of solid goals and made some great passes and saves, although Clonoe didn’t completely fold either. The scores were pretty neck-and-neck up until the end when Moortown emerged as the victors of today’s play-off.
What can I say? I’m bloody happy for the Moortown men and I think I’m starting to like this whole football malarkey.
