What’s a “Blournal?”

Hi, folks.

As the name of the website may indicate, I’m Danny Quinn, and welcome to my “blournal”. It’s not quite a blog and it’s not quite a journal, hence the portmanteau. I’m not the first person to use the word and I’m fairly certain that I won’t be the last either.

At this point, I don’t know how often I’ll update this “blournal”. It’s probably not a good sign that I’ve been struggling with this entry for over a couple of weeks, but that’s likely because I’m not very good with doing introductions. The prospect of having to sell myself is such a daunting one to me, and that’s not great when you’re striving to enter an industry where being able to talk oneself up is an absolute necessity if you wanna get anywhere.

I can’t deny that I’m a perfectionist in many ways. Personally, I don’t think that’s an inherently bad thing, but it does have its drawbacks. I’m not saying this for sympathy but I do struggle with my perfectionism. It holds me back and causes constant procrastination, feelings of self-doubt and indecisiveness on my part, and that’s something I intend to work on going forward.

So, that’s why I’m now making this website public. Obviously, there’s still some more work to be done with the site, but that’s fine by me. Websites are always some form of a work-in-progress and this one is no exception. I look forward to seeing what this website becomes in the future, but it has to start somewhere and I present to you… somewhere.
