A Bit of Indulgence in 4K

Last week, I decided to be impulsive and buy Arrow’s recent release of Inglourious Basterds on 4K, while also pre-ordering their upcoming 4K releases of Dressed to Kill and Lifeforce for good measure.

Inglourious Basterds came in the post earlier today, as did Lifeforce, which is strange because it’s not scheduled to be released for another couple of weeks. Arrow must be shipping some of its upcoming titles early, as I’m also expected to receive my pre-order copy of Dressed to Kill either tomorrow or Wednesday. Apparently, this isn’t uncommon with pre-ordering, but I find it weird owning something that’s not supposed to be out for another couple of weeks.

I’m happy either way, though. I rewatched Lifeforce this evening and it’s every bit as deliriously bonkers as I remember it being. It’s a hard film to talk about for many reasons, not least because it’s so crazy. You can really tell that director Tobe Hooper was going balls-to-the-wall with this project… like he was actively trying to prove all those who believed he didn’t direct Poltergeist wrong… and as much as Cannon Films might’ve had lofty aspirations for this, it’s still a Cannon film at heart. It’s full of schlock and cheese, but it is incredibly entertaining. I love this film and I really, REALLY want to talk more about it in the future.

Haven’t got around to rewatching Inglourious Basterds yet, though. I decided to bite the bullet and start binging the new season of The Traitors on BBC iPlayer. I’m a little late to the party but so far, I’m surprisingly enjoying it.
