First Day of 2025

I had a fun time in Lavery's Bar last night. I drank, I sang, I danced, I talked plenty of shite and I may also have taken a few glasses of Baileys after the clock hit midnight.

So far, the New Year has been off to a quiet start. I've mostly spent the day doing very little outside of curating a daily playlist of music. It's a pretty eclectic mix of artists and genres based on the music I heard last night as well as random music I'm currently vibing to.

I was initially thinking about maybe watching a movie before I went out for the night, but I ultimately settled on booting up Resident Evil 7, which is one of my gifts for Christmas. I’ll admit my experience with horror games is fairly limited outside of Until Dawn and a few brief attempts I made to play through the original Silent Hill a few years ago, but Resident Evil 7 is shaping up to be a good jumping point for both the franchise and the genre in general. Granted, I do struggle with some of the puzzle solving and the gameplay feels a bit trial-and-error, but those are more features than bugs.

I probably shouldn’t have slept in for most of the morning otherwise I could’ve probably gotten more done, but it is what it is. I was hoping to write more about my hopes and expectations for the New Year, but I’ll have to put that off for a wee bit.
